Mehmooda is the founder of Moosa-Duke Solicitors, and has 30 years of medical negligence experience. Mehmooda spent the first 10 years of her medical negligence career defending the NHS and GPs and over the last 20 years has built up the team and firm’s CES specialism. The MDS team has grown to 15 and boasts 4 CES specialists including Navdeep Kainth, Gemma Lewis and Sarah Grogan.
Mehmooda is working with the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the Regional Spinal Network in the North West on their SOP ( Standard Operating Procedures ) for CES.
Mehmooda’s invaluable and extensive knowledge of how claims are defended is unique. There are very few lawyers in the country who have worked for both the NHS and for patients. Mehmooda was head of the Legal Department at a large hospital Trust and also represented GPs covered by the Medical Defence Union.
Mehmooda has worked with CES sufferers for almost 20 years and she and her team have secured multi-million-pound settlements in CES cases, often succeeding in cases which were turned down by other lawyers.

Gemma’s extensive experience in investigating Cauda Equina Syndrome cases and seen her win some very complex cases; he dog with a bone approach serves her client’s well. Gemma obtained a First-Class Honours Degree at Nottingham Trent University in Forensic Sciences, before training to become a solicitor.
